Our kitchen was a fairly dark room. We only had the one window over the sink and the French doors onto the roofed sun room at the end of the eating area- so it was pretty dark. It all kind of blended into the oak before. We had oak cabinets, brown and gold granite, and oak floors.
I can’t really believe what a difference going from the oak cabinets to the white has made in this kitchen. The stainless steel pops and even the gold granite looks better with the contrast of the white wood. It all kind of blended into the oak before.
We painted the walls a pale gray…It is light enough to keep the kitchen bright without using white paint on the walls too.
I could not resist the dark blue painted wood under the counter…the kitchen stools look great there. We matched a B&F color Hague blue. Now I need to work on the dining area.
I love and have used Barrow & Fall colors before- Elephant’s Breath, Stiffkey Blue, and Cornforth White have been my recent favorite. Easy to get this paint in Ireland…no local store to me here in Ohio, sadly.
The oak floors look good here-before we had one color oak cabinet competing with the oak floors. Now if only I could get rid of that old popcorn ceiling…estimate to sand off and replaster was in the thousands—so that’s not going to happen anytime soon.
