Last summer I painted a vintage sewing machine desk a blue-gray and added gray antiquing wax.  John had refinished the vintage sewing machine metal base.  He cleaned it up and painted it black.  I thought that looked nice against the blue-gray silver paint.  The desk looked good in the room and I thought someone might use in a boy’s room as a desk.  However, it did not sell and now I want to change it.

I haven’t yet decided if I might be better off just painting the metal legs white and laving the top as is.  I have been thinking of a pale mint green color.

I am sure I want to change the legs/base and paint it white

I am thinking along the lines of the following:

Like I did with the Blue Lady foyer table.

I am sure I can get the look I want by spray painting the base creamy white and then added gold waxes.  It is the top I am concerned with.  The blue wood has been painted and sealed with hand-rubbed waxes.  I am told I can I can paint over old cured wax with milk paint.  Two very well know home bloggers have posted on this subject.- Marion of Miss Mustard Seed says yes and gives advice and another expert I looked at is the Purple Painted Lady  ALSO has information on this technique.  I have followed these experts for a long time now and trust their advice.  I will post the new desk after I get back to Ohio and get it done!

Still wondering about the color…pale green?  what do you think? Let me know
